America Must Depose Hugo Chavez

by Charles R. Martel

There are reports that Venezuela's Hugo Chavez has been training Arabs to speak Spanish and to blend in with Hispanics so that they can illegally enter the United States. Surprisingly, this story, at least so far, is receiving little attention in the mainstream news media. No public outcry or outrage has yet to register.

The serious danger of Hugo Chavez' conduct should be readily apparent. I suspect that Hugo Chavez is not trying to help the downtrodden enter into the land of milk and honey for humanitarian reasons. Rather, it is obvious that he is helping terrorists infiltrate the United States. In fact, some of those who Hugo Chavez has rendered assistance to have turned up on lists of known terrorists. Mr. Chavez' express hatred of the United States is hardly a Venezuelan state secret.

It is quite possible, if not probable, that Mr. Chavez has helped or will one day help terrorists enter the United States that will commit acts of terrorism. Given the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and the terrific havoc that trained terrorists can render in the United State's open society with its millions of middle eastern immigrants for Arab terrorists to hide amongst, anyone with the slightest modicum of understanding should be outraged and deeply concerned.

So far, while I have been disgusted with Hugo Chavez' infantile rhetoric and deeply concerned about the militant direction in which he has taken Venezuela, I always maintained that Venezuela had the sovereign right to make such disastrous mistakes. This latest discovery changes everything.

Training people to enter the United States who patently mean to do us wrong is no different than a direct invasion by Venezuela. Mr. Chavez' conduct is no less egregious, it is just less courageous. He is a dangerous and deceitful man and he has now committed an act of war. The Venezuelan people should not be made to suffer and Hugo Chavez alone should be removed from office by the least amount of force necessary to complete the task. Americans have the inalienable right to defend themselves and their borders.

If we do not make an example of Hugo Chavez and draw the line at this brazen act of war, we will not only directly endanger ourselves, but we will further lose credibility with respect to our assertion that we are prepared to defend ourselves and thereby indirectly cause yet further harm to the war on terrorism. Republican Congressman Michael McCane also believes that Hugo Chavez is a grave risk: "Venezuela, in my view and Mr. Chavez, pose some of the greatest risk to this country given his alliance and his friendship with the islamic jihadist world."

Update for October 19, 2006: I still have not noticed any report on this subject in the electronic version of the New York Times. That probably means that no media outlets, other than Fox News which broke this story, are reporting this news. I am not watching all of the news networks so I may be missing other reports. If anyone has seen this news reported anywhere other than at Fox News, newshound, and here, please e-mail me at charlesrichardmartel@yahoo.com.
